Activity:

1. Divide into groups of 4
2. Decide on a Web 2.0 Tool to explore from the list below:
  • Survey Monkey Create an online survey
  • VoiceThread Create online conversations around images
  • ToonDoo Create an online comic strip

  • Glogster EDU Create an online dynamic poster

  • Prezi A new type of online presentation
  • Animoto Build a digital story
  • Xtranormal Create an animated story
  • ProtoPage Create a dynamic web page
  • CAST Book Builder Create an online book (check out the Model Books)
  • Quizlet Practice vocabulary with flashcards and games

3. Groups will:
  • Learn to use the chosen tool
  • Discuss reasons why a TEACHER might use the tool
  • Discuss reasons why a STUDENT might use the tool
  • Develop an example to show during your presentation

4. Assign each group member to be A, B, C, or D.

5. Each lettered group will meet (jigsaw) and individually you will present your tool to the others in your group. Your 5 minute presentation should include:
  • What kind of tasks the tool is good for, how to use the tool (brief)
  • Reasons why a TEACHER might use the tool (show example here or below)
  • Reasons why a STUDENT might use the tool (show example here or above)
  • Advantages and concerns for using the tool
